Week 10

November 13, 2017 | Posted by Mary Catherine Aranda

We had fun with clouds and nature drawing, but we missed our Voltz gang!  Hopefully, everyone will be back for Week 10, our last week at Barksdale AFB and our last week before Thanksgiving break.

Week 10:  My kids are having fun learning the states and capitals.  This week we take a little break and learn about Mid-Atlantic Features.  We have a new saint this week—Saint Rose Duchesne.  I’m excited to learn something about her.  In Science we are learning about atmospheric pressure.  In Art, it’s all about the color wheel to get us ready for color theory in quilts in Week 11.  In Latin, we are repeating the “Glory Be”.  In Math, we are measuring perimeters and area.  It would be fun to measure the perimeter of our rooms at home this week.  Language Arts is all about prepositions.  Last, but not least, our history song and timeline take us into the California Gold Rush, the sewing machine, the Plains Wars, the Dred Scott decision, and the Pony Express.  Wow!  We are moving right along!

Field Trip Information:
1.  Papa Simpson’s Farm (November 17).  Meet at 9:15am.  It’s about an hour away from Shreveport.  Bring a lunch!
2.  Nutcracker school performance:  December 8 (Friday) at 10:30am.  We’ll meet in the lobby of the Riverside Theater around 10:10am.

We will be meeting at St. Mary’s of the Pines on November 30, 2017!  Mass is at 8:30am and we will start classes around 9:05am.
